The Langston Civic Association (LCA) and the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) have teamed up to bring the first of several murals to our area over the coming months.
The murals are designed to beautify the community, honor its rich heritage and remind residents that roadside debris ends up in our local waterways. These murals are part of a grant won by the groups to help teach neighbors about ways that we can work together to keep the Anacostia river clean. AWS also conducted a boat tour of the Anacostia river for neighbors this summer and will plan additional events and beautification projects throughout the community. If you'd like to visit the first mural, you can find it in front of the Anacostia Community Outreach Center at 24th and G St NE (aka the horseshoe). A special thanks to local artist Rachel Mulbry, Danielle Hedquist and our neighbor at Langston Terrace, Sylvia, who helped paint the mural. Comments are closed.
