Welcome to the neighborhood! We encourage you to get to know your neighbors and join all of the great community groups already working to help improve the lives of everyone who calls our community home. Once you've settled in, please take a look at the list of common questions below on how you can access city services, contact local leaders and get involved in community activities.
Are there programs in place to address litter? Yes. Our neighborhood participates in the #TrashFreeDC program. Requests to place additional trash cans are studied on a case by case basis, but have traditionally been discouraged due to issues with the cans being used for household trash which can attract rats. What are some local sources of neighborhood news? ANC 5D Website (Local News & Events) Ward 5 Listserv (Email Registration Only for News and Events) MPD-5D Listserv (Crime Reports) Nextdoor.com (Address Verification Required) Langston Civic Association (Mailing List) Frozen Tropics (Community News & Events) Who are my representatives? Where do I vote? What is my police service area? You can look up who represents you at every level of local government by typing your address into the DC Atlas. How can I make noise, litter and other non-emergency complaints? 311 is a toll-free number that allows people in the District to Columbia to request assistance with city services and information. You can also download the 311 app on your phone or contact them on Twitter. Please, do not dial 911 for non-emergency complaints. When and where does my ANC meet? ANC 5D Monthly Meeting (Second Tuesday of every month except July & August) 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm ANC 5D Office 371 Morse St. NE (behind the Trader Joe’s on Florida Ave. NE) Where can I donate or find food, school supplies, clothes and other useful household items?
