Hello Neighbors,
I would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on the ANC 5D community’s progress in confronting crime. For the first time in at least a decade, the ANC 5D community has made it through the first quarter of the year without a murder. Clearly, human lives are a heartbreaking way to measure progress, but our community at least has some cause for cautious optimism. The ongoing challenges we face have not suddenly ended after just a few months of forward-thinking leadership and we should all be clear that we must remain vigilant in order to remain safe. For that reason, it is imperative that our officers and outreach workers be allowed to focus exclusively on their essential safety duties, especially as summer approaches. With warmer weather, our community has traditionally faced more challenges; so neighbors, MPD, violence interrupters and behavioral health teams in our area will continue to find ways to address new challenges as our community works to find peace. I hope citizens will seek out accurate information from trusted sources on this important topic. Our ANC meetings, civic association meetings, and community blog, as well as MPD's website, provide reliable content on this important topic. By ensuring that all neighbors are properly informed, we can work together as a community to continue to make smarter choices that literally save lives. In shared hope for continuing progress, Comm. Sydelle Moore, 5D05 President, Langston Civic Association Vice-Chair, ANC 5D Watch the Peace Summit VideoComments are closed.
